Steve Hamilton started his racing career in the track’s weekly points program and eventually moved up to the Quick Rod class.  Hamilton earned his Top Fuel license in 2000.  Hamilton is a former mechanic and has owned various companies, including a transmission shop and a manufacturing company.

In 2002 he made appearances at two national racing events.  At the age of 40 years old, this African American has been racing for over 17 years.  In 2004 he announced that he will be racing for the Montana Express Top Fuel team during that year’s Hooters IHRA Drag Racing Series.  Steve Hamilton was also named the newest up and coming driver to pilot their Top Fuel Dragster.

Joining the Montana Express Team allowed him the opportunity to receive more seat time and therefore also experience.  A lot of testing cars, hot rods and dragsters, helped him to better develop as a driver.  Hamilton ran the entire IHRA circuit in that year.  IHRA sanctioned sportsman, professional and bracket racing provided competition opportunities and helped develop drivers at all levels.

Steve Hamilton felt that between the dedication of the team owner, a talented crew and his own ambition to achieve his goals as part of a racing team, they would be successful.
